Santa Cruz Island, Galápagos · Rancho Bravo Farm

Forged by Volcanoes. Kissed by the Pacific. Perfected by Hand.

Single origin. Single island. Single purpose: perfection.

01

Volcanic Terroir

Grown in mineral-rich volcanic ash soil on the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, one of the most pristine and remote growing environments on Earth. The same eruptions that shaped the Galápagos give our coffee its extraordinary mineral depth.

02

Meticulous Harvest

Every cherry is hand-selected at peak ripeness. No machines. No shortcuts. Our harvest is slow by design, only the ripe cherries, picked by people who know this farm intimately, chosen because quality cannot be hurried.

03

Artisanal Roast

Small-batch roasted on the island. Available in Light-Medium (bright, floral, with notes of chocolate, almond and cranberry) and Medium-Dark (balanced body, notes of cocoa, caramel and dark cherry). Ground or whole bean, 250g.

Our Philosophy

This Isn't Sustainability. It's Symbiosis.

Forget what you know about ‘eco-friendly.’ We don’t just protect the Galápagos, we are part of it. Our coffee grows in a living partnership with this ancient land, sheltered by native trees, nourished by volcanic soil, and existing to preserve the very magic that creates it. Every bean is a love letter to this unique paradise.

The Jácome Family

Three Generations. One Archipelago. One Purpose.

1956

El Capitán

Luis Jácome

Our great-grandfather, ‘El Capitán’ Luis Jácome, embarked on a daring voyage to these untamed islands, accompanied by a committed group of natives from the slopes of Cotopaxi Volcano. With little more than a knife and compass, he ventured to the Archipelago in pursuit of wild cattle and even wilder dreams.

1999

The Naturalist

Rodrigo Jácome

His son Rodrigo, captivated by those mysterious stories, followed in his footsteps. He became one of the first naturalist guides, helping establish the Galapagos Marine Reserve. Rod discovered a new passion: specialty coffee, planted a small coffee grove, with the dream of crafting the worlds finest specialty coffee.

The Dream

Bernie Jácome

We faced scorching sun and impossible logistics. Crushing operating costs piled up, and the dream was slipping away. Bernie created Blue Iguana Coffee to rescue that dream and honor the family legacy. We cherish this place, and invite you to take home a piece of this magic and awaken your own spirit for adventure.

The Brujo Project

Saving A Living Legend.

The Small Vermilion Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus nanus), also known as the Brujo bird, is critically endangered. Fewer than 40 exist anywhere on Earth. Its natural habitat is quickly disappearing.

Our farm is an active habitat restoration project, in partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation. Every bag you hold is a Scalesia canopy the Brujo bird is nesting in right now.

SPECIALTY GRADE · MICRO-LOT

The World Doesn't Get Much of This.

640 bags per month. Not because we can’t make more.
Because we want to keep it special.

Blue Iguana Coffee is a specialty-grade, single-origin, micro-lot coffee. Grown on one farm, on one island, by one family who has spent four generations learning what this land demands of them.

Rancho Bravo sits in the volcanic highlands of Santa Cruz Island. The soil is mineral-rich ash. The canopy is
native Scalesia. The microclimate is unreplicable. A convergence of equatorial sun, Pacific altitude, and
the kind of slow-grown complexity that only comes when you refuse to optimize for yield.

We produce 160 kilograms of coffee per month. In a world where commodity coffee is measured in container
ships, ours is measured in careful handfuls. Every cherry is hand-selected at peak ripeness. Every batch is
roasted in small runs, on the island, close to the source. The result is a specialty-grade coffee that
exists in a quantity so limited that our partner locations receive fixed monthly allocations. When the
allocation is gone, it is gone.

This is what it means to be one of the world’s most exclusive and most exotic coffees.
